The last few months have had me busy with business tasks that are not the most creative; which is okay… that’s just a part of small biz life. However, I realized how much I’ve missed being in the studio. I haven’t been allowing myself the time to just enjoy the art process; without an end goal.
EVEN 5 MINUTES OF CREATIVITY DAILY DID WONDERS FOR ME!
I have missed painting and drawing and just being creative for the sole purpose of play! Carving out time to do the things that bring back joy has brought back more fun into my mornings. I start out my workday now with these 5-minute paintings… sometimes I stay and paint a while longer, other days I keep it to the 5 minutes and it’s really enough to set a tone of gratitude for my day. I feel so lucky to be able to do what I love and incorporate it into my work.
It’s become a daily habit now, and somewhat meditative. I can give more to my “workday” and, in all honesty, I’m a better mama to my littles. Knowing I’ve done even one small thing just for myself fills me up so much.
